2. Identity, Logo & Emblem
TAS2O :: DESIGN
First product: name tag
Start with a simple product that gives you something real to design, make, test, photograph, and improve. Create a name tag that clearly shows your name, can stand at your workspace, and can later incorporate your personal logo.
Use the NICE Design Process to identify needs, rank useful extras, investigate possible solutions, create a first version, and evaluate it against the requirements before improving it.
Personal logo
Create a simple mark that remains recognizable at a small size and can work in one colour. The challenge is reduction: decide what is essential and remove what is not.
Personal emblem
Create a richer visual that can combine place, heritage, interests, values, aspirations, symbols, and the personal logo. The challenge is synthesis: several ideas should work together rather than becoming a pile of unrelated symbols.
Make it physical
A strong design may later become a laser-cut or engraved object, a 3D-printed badge, or a vinyl decal. Fabrication constraints become part of the design problem.
