Licensing and Attribution

Licences for Technology Commons code, educational content, data, and third-party materials.

Technology Commons is an open-source teaching project. Different parts of the project use different licences.

Website code and executable materials

Original website code and executable materials are licensed under the GNU Affero General Public License, version 3 only (AGPL-3.0-only). This includes JavaScript, CSS, executable Quarto documents, scripts, tests, and build tooling.

Educational content

Original educational text, articles, lessons, diagrams, and explanatory figures are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC-BY-SA-4.0).

When reusing this material, give appropriate credit, link to the licence and source, indicate whether changes were made, and share adaptations under CC BY-SA 4.0 or a compatible licence.

Data and third-party materials

Data releases use the licence stated with each release. Third-party code, fonts, screenshots, quotations, and other materials retain their original licences. See the repository’s third-party notices for details.

Identity and branding

The software and content licences do not grant rights to represent a fork or adaptation as an official Technology Commons site or as the work of Andrew Andrade. Adaptations should use their own identity when necessary and should not imply endorsement.
