Situation

What is happening? Who is involved? Where will the design be used? What problem or opportunity do you see?

N

Needs & Necessities

Needs are specific pass/fail requirements. Necessities are factors where more or less can be better.

Needs

Need: what must the design do? Why is it needed? How will you test it? Remove

Necessities

Necessity: what would make it better? Why does it matter? Importance /10 Remove
I

Inquire & Investigate

Record what you investigated, how you did it, what you learned, and how that learning could affect the design.

What did you investigate? How? What did you discover? What does this mean for your design? Remove
C

Create & Communicate

Make the simplest useful version that lets you test the idea and show it to someone else.

E

Evaluate

Test the design against the same requirements you wrote at the beginning. Then decide whether the requirements or situation also need to change.

Test the needs
